Anthenosphere : A scientific term for a plate which has been consumed by another plate.
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Cenozoic : A time period in the earth's history. This era began approx. 65 m.y.a. and is still continuing.
(See: GEOLOGIC TIME)

Compression : The process of shrinking a material.

Convection Currents : The process in which a hot liquid moves away from the heat source, since hot liquid is lighter than cold liquid. The cold liquid far from the heat source moves to it since it's heavier than hot liquid. This is a continous cycle, as long as a heat source exsists.
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Crystallization : When certain materials obtain a characteristic which makes them symetrical in their chemical compostion.
(See :ROCKS)

Dikes : Dikes small outlets of a volcanic chamber. A dike when ejects emits limited magma, but a highly sulphuric acid. This usually occurs around a volcanic island beofre the volcano actually errupts.
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Eon : A time period that consists of eras, periods and epicohs. The longest Eon in earth's geoloic history is the Phanerozoic Eon
(See :GEOLOGIC TIME)

Evolution : Term meaning to change, or evolve

Extinction (Extinct) : To cease to exsist. To disappear from life.
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Fauna : The scientific term for marine life

Flora : The scientific term for plant life

Fossils : Solid remains or impression of life forms left in rocks and other such material

Geologists : Those in the profession of geology, ie., studying earth's surface, it's movements, and it's history.
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Inhabitants : Residents

Mantle : This is the thickest layer of the earth. It's made up maily of magma, a hot liquid that oozes from the earth's molten core. This layer conducts convection currents, which causes the earth's plates to move.
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Magma : This is a substance found in the mantle of the earth
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Mesozoic : A time period in the earth's geologic history. This period began from approx. 230 m.y.a to approx. 65 m.y.a.
(See :GEOLOGIC TIME)

Lithosphere : The scientific term for the earth's crust. This layer rests upon a hot liquid called the mantle, consisted of magma
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Paleopole : An imaginary pole, similar to the axis we use today. These poles were theorized to have drifted, or in a scientific term, it is known as polar-wandering
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Paleozoic : A time period in the earth's geologic history. This period began from approx. 600 m.y.a to approx. 225 m.y.a.
(See :GEOLOGIC TIME)

Phanerozoic Eon : A time period that consists of Precambrian, Paleozoic and Mesozoic Eras. This period began from the origin of the earth to approx. 65 m.y.a. This eon is the longest time period in the earth's geologic history
(See :GEOLOGIC TIME)

Polarity : Polarity is a magnetic feild that the earth posess, and constantly reverses
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Polar-Wandering : The theory of the axis of the earth shifting over time. This theory is much debated.
(See :PLATE TECTONICS)

Precambrian : A time period in the earth's geologic history. This period began from the origin of earth to approx. 0.6 billion years ago.
(See :GEOLOGIC TIME)

Protoganist : Hero

Regression : A term meaning to die or being reduced greatly in quantity.

Subduction : To reduce in quantity (to subduct)

Submerged : To be completely surronded by a material on all sides.

Supercontinent : A gigantic land mass, with no other large land masses around it. The Pangea supercontinent is an example of one
(See :PLATE TECTONICS, GEOLOGIC TIME)

Transgression : A term for flourish or prosper, or multiply greatly in number.

Uniformitarianism : The theory stating that age of an ocean floor was uniform or equal on both sides of a mid-oceanic ridge
(See :GEOLOGIC HISTORY)
